Arnold Schwarzenegger on Climate Control

Arnold Schwarzenegger on Climate Control
Bloomberg Business Week by Eric Pooley, 11/24/2010

Extended Comments by Ron Kilmartin

Arnold spins the out-of-state oil companies as big bad villains, but they were outspent over 3 to 1 by in- and out-of-state investors who will harvest huge subsidies and revenues from the people’s pockets. He also never mentions that the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association with millions of members supported Proposition 23 and opposes AB 32.

It is surprising that he thinks Cap and Trade is successful in Europe. In fact it is a disaster in Europe, He is oddly misinformed on that issue.
Arnold spinned California on AB 32 just like he spinned Maria on the schnitzel. The fact is that most of the rest of the world has already or is now jettisoning the global warming hoax, as the climategate debacle of 2009 becomes subject to more and more intense global scrutiny debunking the theory on a daily basis.

Arnold and Jerry Brown both need to listen to what the “skeptics” are saying and writing in peer-reviewed technical papers, and check on what the rest of the world is doing re the carbon hoax. It makes no sense for California to be pursuing the Kyoto Treaty mandates when the rest of the world is rejecting them as being baseless. The lifeblood support for AB 32 is from people who will make money from it. It will have absolutely no effect of global climate.

AB 32 contains a provision whereby the governor can set it aside for a year for whatever reason. This option should be exercised by Arnold before he leaves, or if he doesn’t do it, by Jerry Brown when he assumes the office. In my opinion it borders on criminal to allow AB 32 to go into effect when it will choke the state economy even further. It is pure folly to wreck our energy systems in the face of such a weak economy. Soup lines? There may not be even any soup.

The Obama Administration is suspected by many of being a fan of the Cloward-Piven strategy to bring down our capitalistic system and substitute socialism. I do not believe that is Arnold’s intent for California, since I do not believe he is evil. Nor do I believe that of Jerry Brown. But Cloward and Piven, if they were still alive, could not find a better mechanism for California to self-destruct than AB 32

The Elites’ plan to put the USA on the chopping block

November 22, 2010

The media will likely not cover any attacks on America unless the editors see blood all over their offices. There are major stealth attacks in progress not only from Islam, but from US progressives cum socialists and the international elites. They are inducting the climate change ideology into their stealth bag of tricks and see it as an ideal stealth vehicle to achieve their Utopian vision.

AB 32 is California’s local global warming boondoggle that will cost Californians dearly. But there are others who are busy stirring up this same cauldron at the national and international level, and in our K-12 schools.

Washington is on hold on national cap and trade and climate meddling, thanks to a breeze of common sense that has permeated through congress, at least for the moment. But there are enviro standard-bearers still looking for an opportunity to vote them in during he lame duck session. Meanwhile the EPA is currently running amuck on carbon control and is about to clamp down hard on harmless CO2 emissions throughout the country, at the cost of millions of jobs.

Obama, Hillary and the State Department are meanwhile trying to enmesh the USA in another UN Climate Treaty at the upcoming Cancun Climate Conference (Nov. 18 – Dec. 20). To get an idea of what the UN bunch wants to do to the United States, see this:

This essay pretty clearly shows that control of carbon dioxide at the global level is not about global warming, it is all about bring the USA to its knees and instituting world socialist government on the style of the EU – unelected elites in control, national governments castrated of their autority, and the peasants have no say. Back to the days of Lords and Vassals!

Americans need to understand that the climate control agenda is Newspeak for Global Socialism cum Communism. The tyranny advocated by some of the people quoted in this article is mind-boggling, far outstripping Stalin’s Great Terror or Mao’s Long March in pure anti-human evil.

If you have kids in K-12, you need to know about the Alliance for Climate Education They are brainwashing our kids with hiphop background and the submimal big-goverment message that the big corporations are bad and “we” must take charge – I am paraphrasing, but that is pretty much it. You can expect pressure at home to get on the anti-carbon bandwagon; and they are taking email and twitter addresses of your kids. Lenin wrote that if he could have the children for 4 years, he would make them into good little communist robots. This is what is going on in some of school districts already, making kids into climate bots.

The parallel between the Islamic stealth attack on the USA and the left’s stealth attack on the USA via the carbon control myth is breathtaking. The main difference between these enemies is that one seeks Utopia – the world controlled by communism,. and the other seeks Dar-al-Islam – the world controlled by Islam. In the first case the people would end up as peasants. In the second case as dhimmis.

I hope all addressees will consider these matters, and at Thanksgiving include thanks that today we are still relatively free in this country, and we must be watchful and involved to assure that it stays that way.

Why is California still out of step with the rest of the world?

The zero impact of Climategate and Copenhagen on the Zealots in Sacramento

California is marching into the global warming regulatory morass ( AB 32, AB 1493 – the Pavley bills, and probably others) with ever-increasing deliberation. While the full hammer of these bills has not yet fallen, by the time our grade-schoolers are ready to go to work, these bills will have turned California into an “green” economic wasteland. The Pavley bills will trip the bankruptcy cord not only for the state, but for thousands of business and for millions of individuals.

While California with its governor, its legislature and its state bureaucrats (CARB, Energy Commission, Natural Resources, Utility Commission and who knows what else), all sleepwalking in a trance as if Climategate did not happen, all stupefied by the global warming hoax of Al Gore and a handful of scoundrel scientists, it is interesting to look at how the rest of the world views the CO2 hoax today, because it is getting almost zero coverage in the US liberal media and zero attention by the Zealots of Sacramento..

Below are some extracts the writer culled from recent articles from outside the state and outside the country which show a far more jaundiced view of the CO2 hoax than held by the American media or the Zealots of Sacramento.

Californians should ask why is California government (or the United States, for that matter) so out of step with the rest of the world’s evaluation of the twin spectacles of Copenhagen and Climategate, which displayed for all to see the specious nature of the CO2 global warming hoax? The fallacy and fraud is openly discussed elsewhere but not in America. The American liberal media is still circling the wagons on the anthropogenic global warming hoax, as is our state government which refuses to recognize the economic catastrophe it is brewing for the state with AB32 and similar carbon control bills.

All these carbon control measures now rest on a mid-air foundation. Objects, businesses, governments and agencies with no foundation will fall – the economic system has a “gravity” that pulls down anything that is not well founded (great example: the State of California, on its way to bankruptcy).

The whole purpose of AB32 and like bills just came crashing down; their foundation – the CO2 hoax, no longer has any credence. Unfortunately a good deal of taxpayer money has already gone into subsidizing green industries and they are rapidly becoming an albatross around the taxpayers neck, as well as the huge state bureaucracies dependent on permanent jobs regulating fellow citizens.

After each of the following extracts there is a URL where the reader can read the complete article – which is highly recommended. The overriding theme is that the CO2 scam is finished. It should be finished here too.

1. From The Australian – 2/14/10 – It’s time for some time out – anon.

Six weeks after Copenhagen, the IPCC report has been devalued by revelations of flimsy evidence and shoddy reporting. Many parts of the report contain solid science but that is not the point. It is increasingly impossible for governments to unquestioningly construct policy based on a report now so compromised. A fresh look at scientific data on climate change is needed before politicians can ask taxpayers to embark on schemes that could lead to trillions of dollars of lost wealth around the globe in coming decades. …”

2. From Open Magazine (India) 1/30/10 -The Hottest Hoax in the World by Ninad D. Sheth

The climate change fraud that is now unraveling is unprecedented in its deceit, unmatched in scope—and for the liberal elite, akin to 9 on the Richter scale. Never have so few fooled so many for so long, ever.

The entire world was being asked to change the way it lives on the basis of pure hyperbole. Propriety, probity and transparency were routinely sacrificed.

The truth is: the world is not heating up in any significant way. Neither are the Himalayan glaciers going to melt as claimed by 2035. Nor is there any link at all between natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and global warming. All that was pure nonsense, or if you like, ‘no-science’,

3. From The Arizona Republic – 2/13/10 – Arizona quits Western Climate Endeavor by Shaun McKinnon

“… (Governor) Brewer stopped short of pulling Arizona out of the multistate coalition that plans to regulate greenhouse gases starting in 2012. But she made it clear in an executive order that Arizona will not endorse the emission-control plan or any program that could raise costs for consumers and businesses.

State officials said the policy shift was rooted in concerns that the controversial emissions plan would slow the state’s economic recovery. Brewer says the state should focus less on regulations and more on renewable energy and investments by businesses that can create green jobs.

The governor also ordered the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to take another look at stricter vehicle-emissions rules set to take effect in 2012. Automakers said the rules, based on those adopted by California, would raise the cost of a new car significantly.

The governor’s order is another blow to the Western Climate Initiative, a group of seven states and four Canadian provinces that joined forces in 2007 after growing impatient with the federal government to address climate change. …”

4. From TheSpectator(uk) – 2/3/20 – By the waters of denial they sit and weep… by Melanie Phillips:

Nevertheless when the BBC, no less, starts to allow an interviewee to start telling the truth like this:

I hate to say this – but there is a very strong –it’s very small – but there is a very strong green fascism in much of the environmental world. I’ve heard it said at meetings I’ve been at – that climate change is so important – democracy has to be sacrificed something big is definitely happening. And that something is the disintegration of anthropogenic global warming theory. The ‘scientific’ basis for it is de-materialising day by day, leaving merely the sulphurous stink of intellectual fraud on an epic scale.

The IPCC has been forced to admit that it was wrong to predict that the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035 and has been accused of falsely linking global warming to a rise in extreme weather events. Subsequently it was revealed that the IPCC stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information. However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them. The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master’s degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps. …”

5. From The Mail On Line (UK) – 2/14/10 – Climategate U-turn as scientist at centre of row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995 By Jonathan Petre

Article summarizes a BBC interview with Phil Jones, who is the man at the very center of climategate – chief honcho aat the British Climate Research Unit.:

 Data for vital ‘hockey stick graph’ has gone missing

 There has been no global warming since 1995

 Warming periods have happened before – but NOT due to man-made changes

He [Jones] also agreed that there had been two periods which experienced similar warming, from 1910 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998, but said these could be explained by natural phenomena whereas more recent warming could not.

He further admitted that in the last 15 years there had been no ‘statistically significant’ warming, although he argued this was a blip rather than the long-term trend.

And he said that the debate over whether the world could have been even warmer than now during the medieval period, when there is evidence of high temperatures in northern countries, was far from settled….”

He also leaves open the possibility, long resisted by climate change activists, that the ‘Medieval Warm Period’ from 800 to 1300 AD, and thought by many experts to be warmer than the present period, could have encompassed the entire globe.

This is an amazing retreat, since if it was both global and warmer, the green movement’s argument that our current position is ‘unprecedented’ would collapse.

These current extracts from around the world are representative of many more articles on the CO2 hoax that can be found on the internet, except from the land of the lying progressive media – the good old USA (with the notable exception of the Arizona Republic and probably a few others).

Besides media and government being stuck ostrich-like in the CO2 hoax, some big corporations are equally complicit in promoting the hoax. General Electric is a prime example. They closed their tungsten-lamp facilities in the US and opened curly florescent factories in China, an example of killing redneck jobs and getting green jobs …in China. And General Electric again on “green” wind turbines and “green” solar panels – lots of green jobs …but in low-wage China again.. You have to hand it to those GE executives – they know how to boost that bottom line, especially by greasing the wheels in Washington and getting taxpayer funds sent in their direction.. But transferring their manufacturing business to China is only part of their complicity in the hoax. As owners of NBC and its affiliates GE is in the catbird seat for spreading propaganda and disinformation on global warming to the American public.

Where GE really planned on making a killing is the cap and trade bill, and GE has been an ardent supporter of this taxpayer-fleecing operation. The public might excuse the Pavleys and the Schwarzeneggers: for their folly since they are mere politicians with little or no scientific training who were led away from the truth by their respective cabals of disengenuous bureaucrats. But General Electric? No, not the executive masters of this center of engineering excellence and high science. They knew the fraud that was being pushed onto the American people and they not only got on board but overboard when they saw the profit potential of cap and trade. GE is just an example; there are many more, including all the major banks that are backing this giant fraud.

The anti-CO2 regulations have already damaged the state economy with mandating economically infeasible programs that are only sustained by political fiat and waste of taxpayer funds. Examples – again the poor-grade lighting of curly-florescent light bulbs and the danger of widespread mercury contamination; unreliable solar panels and wind turbines; exalted auto emission standards that will result in further reduction in vehicle strength to resist accidents; onerous regulations forced on the electric power industry, such as having a high percentage of renewable energy in installed capacity (all of which basically require a CO2-producing thermal plant of equal capacity to “firm up” the unreliable green energy); and do not forget the governor’s order to the grid managers not to buy economical coal-fired electricity from the western states, raising the cost of all imported electric power for California consumers. Obama promised to skyrocket electricity costs. Governor Schwarzenegger and Senator Pavley have given California an advanced introduction to Obamapower, which will be additive. And these are only a sampling of the businesses that will be affected; cement production will probably no longer be economically feasible in California, bakeries and restaurants, schools, even your home.

All green jobs that are dependent on the CO2 hoax are founded in mid-air. It is only a matter of time before gravity exacts its price. To the extent that green jobs depend on the CO2 hoax, they will fall of their own weight. To minimize the damage to the economy AB 32 and like legislation needs to be rescinded.

How long will the people of California continue to allow this CO2 charade to poison our state’s economy and export our businesses and jobs? We have an opportunity to set AB32 aside with the Suspend AB32 proposition 23, which would delay enforcement of AB32 until our current 12 percent unemployment drops to 5.5 percent, when the state and California businesses will presumably be in better shape to handle the cost of AB32. That could put AB 32 on ice for a decade or more, since there are already huge business disincentives resulting from the legislature’s extreme left-wing tax and spend policies, and consequent wide-spread job losses throughout the private sector. Recovery from the California employment mess is not even on the horizon at the moment. Proposition 23 will go a long way towards improving the overall business environment, since it will reflect a major change in direction in state policy towards business. It is only business that creates real jobs, not government bureaucracies and subsidized greeny gadgets.

Representative Dan Logue presented the elements of the proposition in the form of AB 118 in January, 2010. The bill was presented to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee for forwarding to the Assembly but all the AGW zealots on the committee voted it down. Meanwhile, the suspend AB 32 proposition 23 is a temporary band-aide that the people of California can enact to stop the job losses and other mischief that AB 32 will impose.

Proposition 23 can still be faulted in that it allows that AB32 could some day be resurrected when unemployment drops below 5.5 percent. Since AB 32 is based on the carbon hoax, it needs to be permanently killed so that it is no longer affecting investment decisions and job creation. If Proposition 23 passes that will give California time to work out a permanent spot in the graveyard for AB 32 and other carbon control bills, regulations, and executive orders. We need a massive funeral for AB32 and similar bills, regulations and Schwarzenneger executive orders that depend on the CO2 hoax. Please note that this is not to say that all greeny ideas are bad. But AB32 certainly is, since it is founded on a proven hoax, that man-made carbon dioxide is causing global warming.

Jerry Brown, California attorney general and Democrat candidate for governor, renamed the proposition with a title designed to obfuscate the bill and confuse voters (Brown is an AGW zealot himself and led the battle to get the chemistry-challenged Supreme Court to declare that EPA has the authority to find that CO2 is a pollutant; so Brown has a personal motive to kill this proposition). Fortunately the court threw out his inane title for the proposition and it is known as the California Jobs Initiative.

AB 32 and Proposition 23 – the snowball analogy

November 2, 2010

AB 32 and Proposition 23 – the snowball analogy
By Ron Kilmartin

Consider the snowball analogy. Joe and Jane California are at the top of a steep mountain. They have two large snowballs before them, and on November 2nd they must decide which snowball to push. They can only push one down the mountain. Their decision will have state-wide, nation-wide, and global implications, and could either cost them dearly, or not,

One snowball is labeled Proposition 23. The other snowball is AB 32. The game is that Joe and Jane must decide whether or not to push the Proposition 23 snowball (i.e., to vote yes).

If they decide to push the Proposition 23 snowball, that will automatically melt the AB 32 snowball in place, and the Proposition 23 snowball will immediately go down the mountain.

On the other hand, if they decide not to push the Proposition 23 snowball, that will automatically send the AB 32 snowball down the mountain, and melt the Proposition 23 snowball in place.

The consequences in either case will be huge, not only for California but for the entire nation, and indeed, potentially the entire world. The reason for effects of this decision outside the state is that California has always been a place for innovation and advanced technology. Many other states and the federal government frequently follow California, from road-building and dam-building techniques and standards to micro-chips and computers. In legislatures across the land, it is frequently heard “They are doing this or that in California, so we should too”. Export of California technology and standards has most always been a good thing, as they are based on fact and science. AB 32 however is based on myth, the CO2 myth, and its import by other states will only lead to the further ruination of their own economies and further enhancement of the federal financial debacle..

If AB 32 regulations are imposed in California, it will turn the state’s economy upside down. I have written a separate essay “AB 32 – some myths and some truths” which can be read here. Therein I list eleven reasons to reject AB 32 by voting yes on Proposition 23.

The effects inside California of AB 32 implementation are beyond predictable because of the ultra-complexity of the California economy, and because AB 32 would be imposed not on a humming economy that might be able to absorb the shock of the AB 32 attack, but one that is already severely crippled from the debacles in the housing, irrigated agriculture, and financial sectors, with unemployment upwards of 30 percent in some areas.

The dislocations by AB 32 will be beyond belief. Depleting the carbon resource available to meet the needs of California energy systems (electric power and fuel for transportation) would be like pinching off the central nervous system in the human body. Every element of the body that depends on the nervous system suddenly has to make do partly or fully without it You do not need an MD to tell you that it would not work. By the same token, it does not require a rocket scientist to conclude that the California economy cannot work with a massive reduction in carbon dioxide production (i.e., electric power and transportation). However, it does take more brains than seem to be available in Sacramento.

Joe and Jane California will be socked with increased costs and taxes and fees for every expense in their daily lives, as everything basically depends on production of carbon dioxide, which the fleecers will price up as high as they can go. The gadget (wind and solar) fleecers will be sustained by the green-gadget subsidies and tax breaks, and the cap and trade fleecers will be sustained by higher electricity, gasoline and diesel costs. The political and bureaucratic fleecers in Sacramento will get their share of the fleecing by taxing the cap and traders. In this picture, Joe and Jane’s wealth are the target of all the fleecers. They will be required to transfer their wealth and wages to enrich the fleecers, down to the point where they may have little or nothing left. There is no doubt that this will lead to many more foreclosures for families who are already on the edge, and many more businesses picking up their machinery and moving out.

If Proposition 23 fails and the AB 32 snowball goes down the mountain, besides scuttling California’s economy, implementation of AB 32 could potentially wreck havoc across the nation. AB 32 will be a psychological victory for the enviromarxists and will empower the green fleecers to get the same or even more tyrannical laws and regulations from Congress, the EPA and other fleecer agencies in Washington. The federal-level fleecers are smarting from defeats so far in Congress but they are in ecstasy over the Supreme Court’s blessing of CO2 regulation and the EPA’s acting on it. EPA has already begun a program for gradual implementation of regulatory tyranny, choking off production of CO2 at the national level. And in the post-election lame duck session the Democratic leadership may bring cap and trade legislation to a vote. Only if the Republican minority hold including the Rhinos, ca the federal bill be stopped.

There may be other states that will like robots foolishly follow with AB 32-like legislation. In any case Washington will impose addition fleecer costs in terms of taxes, fees and subsidies and economy-wrecking regulations, further separating Joe and Jane from their wealth. And this burden on Joe and Jane will be imposed at the time of the sickest national economy since the 1930s. On top of that the Obama team is readying the greatest income tax increase in history in the lame duck session. In combination, these attacks on the national economy will likely sink Joes and Janes around the nation, while the fleecers will all be safe on some hilltop. Our nation’s economy has never endured the financial blows that are planned by Senator Reid, Senator Boxer, et al, and President Obama. These attacks will occur, unless they are stopped at the ballot box here in California on November 2nd, and in Congress by the Republican phalanx of 41.

But that is not all.

If AB 32 sails across the US and enables federal cap and trade law and more carbon controls, and Congressional tolerance of the EPA tyranny (i.e., inaction to stop the EPA), that will further empower the next layer of fleecers, the international cabal of thieves at the United Nations. The Obama gang made a big pitch for internationalization of the carbon control myth at Copenhagen in 2009; they lost in that round, but it is by no means a dead horse. The UN global warming cabal has a detailed schedule of meetings to implement a Kyoto II global warming treaty along with a regulatory environment that will amount to socialism on a global scale, based on the carbon myth. They want to whack the wealth of the Joes and Janes of the entire first world and transfer it to third world dictatorships as a “climate debt”. And Obama and Clinton continue to seek this international treaty even though it will put Americans in sackcloth. If such a treaty is approved by the Senate in will make American Joes and Janes subject to the will of UN thieves and dictatorships.

On the other hand, if Proposition 23 wins, it will set back the fleecers not only in California but nation-wide and world-wide. The international fleecers are counting on the Obama gang’s help in getting Kyoto II passed. But a yes on Proposition 23 will go a long way towards putting a sock on the Obama-Boxer program. Most important, Joe and Jane will retain the wealth that the fleecers want to steal from them.

The fleecers (here is a list) have mobilized massive funds from both in and out of the state to sink Proposition 23 with agiprop. At last count their funding beat the Pro-Proposition 23 faction by over 3.3 to1. This attack on Proposition 23 has nothing to do with cooling the planet. It is only about fleecing Joe and Jane California. If the fleecers and their enviro-socialist allies fail here in California , they know they will be set back for years in achieving their goals nationally and internationally, and that is why they are pouring in big money to defeat Proposition 23.

But if Joe and Jane California ,vote no on Proposition 23, they will unleash the AB 32 snowball which will propel Californians into a regulatory hell and huge increases in electric power costs and in gasoline and diesel fuel costs. These energy sources are the backbone of the state economy. If their costs go up, the cost of everything in Joe And Jane’s budget will go up. These are not cost increases of the order of 5%; they are more of the order of 50% or more. Only time will tell.

Once the AB 32 snowball gets rolling in California, other copycat states will set up their own anti-carbon regulations using the AB 32 as a model. At the federal level, setting free AB 32 in California wiil lend impetus to the fleecer demand for cap and trade. And it will further embolden the EPA to invoke even harsher and more costlier C02 emission controls.

AB 32 will have even further repercussions, in the halls of the UN, specifically the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The IPCC went to the Copenhagen Congress in 11/2009 with a portfolio draft plan for world governance, based on the carbon myth. Our president supported the global governance concept, but fortunately cooler heads prevailed. Nevertheless the IPCC continues to pursue its goal of a world governance based on the carbon dioxide myth. The implementation of AB 32 will give the IPCC cabal a boost up in propaganda value to carry their plan to fruition.

The main direct effect on Joe and Jane Califonria will be increase in daily cost of living and higher taxes. It can be visualized that increased costs and higher taxes will also result from the federal level, and at the UN level if President Obama has his way.
